On The Rocks was painted during a long visit to St. Petersburg, Florida. There were a few stormy days at the beach that made the colors of the water and sky different shades of grey. It simultaneously carried a softness and a hardness that I was enamored with. Finding the perfect rocks along the shore is a favorite pastime of mine, a quiet ritual that offers both grounding and unexpected beauty—just like the coastal storms that inspired this piece.
