Salt In The Air was inspired by a personal moment of stillness, spent in the waters of San Sebastián, Spain. There’s a feeling that comes with being on vacation, the hot sun beating down, while cooling off in the ocean and being with the person you love that just feels magical. The sun glistens off the water and everything feels exciting and new. For a moment, you’re filled with gratitude, joy and love. The world softens and nothing feels rushed. That’s what I thought about when I made this painting. 

I leaned into negative space in this piece to let it breathe, the same way I did in that moment. Shades of blue, a touch of white, and the feeling that everything is exactly as it should be.
