Arvia joined the P&O Cruises fleet in December 2022 with 26 dining and bar options, 6 theaters and lounges, and 5 pools on board. They commissioned 5 original paintings from me for The 710 Club, an intimate late-night bar and live music venue. Knowing my paintings would be in this Club from the start, I pulled inspiration from my favorite jazz legends Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and Stan Getz to set the mood. I used India ink to go with the dark, sultry vibe of the lounge and a metallic gold acrylic paint to add luxe and glamour. The marks were made with expressions of joy, love, desire, and excitement to resemble the emotions that would occur from being in that atmosphere. I was inspired by the idea of two souls in love dancing in the night to the song "Manhattan" by the one and only, Ella Fitzgerald. I thought about how a couple in this nightclub might feel while sipping on old-fashioneds and listening to classic jazz songs live. Watch some of the making of this painting here.

Onto the next!
