A new TV series is in the works, and I'm SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED to be a part of it!! 🎉 I'm 1 of 3 artists in Chicago who were selected for the pilot episode of Arthouse, a show that pairs real artists with real people looking to buy original art to transform their space. Keep reading to learn more and see some behind the scenes from the shoot! 🎥
What makes Arthouse so special? It's shattering the idea that art is out of reach, sparking real connections between buyers and artists, and showing just how fun and affordable owning original artwork can be.
The concept is similar to House Hunters, but people are buying art instead of a home. In each episode, Arthouse shows a buyer in need of art and shares 3 artists whose work would be a good fit for their space. They bring the buyer into each artist's studio to learn more about their creative process and see their work. The buyer chooses an artist whose style resonates the most with them, and the episode wraps with a dramatic reveal of their favorite piece from the artist in their space.
Arthouse plans to have each episode in a different city, starting with Chicago. The pilot episode stars ✨ me ✨, Jenny Vyas, and Berny Echeverria with buyers Meiling Jin and Austin Ferris, a Chicago couple looking to make their first purchase of original art. Meiling is a photographer/influencer and Austin is a lawyer.
We had a crew of around 16 people (most came in from LA) who’d worked on shows for HGTV, NBC, Netflix, E!, and MTV. It was intense, exhilarating, fascinating, and at times totally chaotic. I've never been a part of something this big before and I'm loving every single second of it!
Getting to experience the making of a TV show behind the scenes was eye opening. I've only been a witness to my contribution to the show—which will likely be a small part—and I'm in awe of how much planning and setup is involved to make a single episode. Ahead of the shoot day, there were hours, if not days, dedicated to interviews, location scouting, logistics, equipment rentals, and probably much more I'm not even aware of, for just my part in it.
Big thanks to Laura Patterson, Scott Power, and Nathan Zebedeo for choosing me and the whole crew behind Arthouse for making this dream a reality. And that's a wrap!! 🎬
