Learn How To
Mount Paper to Panel

Give your works on paper a professional, gallery-ready look by mounting them to wood panels. This is a unique (and more affordable) alternative to traditional framing behind glass that you can do yourself. This course covers prepping your panel, mounting your painting to the panel, sealing the painting based on the medium you used, and adding a frame and hanging hardware. Plus, you’ll learn how to prevent and remove air bubbles if they pop up. Whether you’re new to mounting or looking to refine your process, you’ll finish this course ready to mount with confidence.

Learn How To
Flatten Works on Paper & Mount Paper to Panel

The complete system for turning your works on paper from buckled to beautiful. These two courses work hand in hand because a flat painting is essential for a clean mount. Together, they cover the techniques that took me 5 years to perfect. Take all the guesswork out of flattening, mounting, and finishing your work, and end up with a polished, professional presentation you can achieve yourself for less than the cost of professional framing.

The Breakthrough You’ve Wanted

Presentation is the difference between a piece that reads as finished and one that reads as unfinished, no matter how strong the painting is. A buckled, warped sheet of paper pulls attention away from the work itself, even when the composition and color are exactly right. That disconnect is hard to sit with, especially after you've put hours into making the painting.

Getting your paper flat is the first step. Mounting it to a panel is what carries that flatness forward, permanently, while giving your paper-based work the same weight and presence as a piece on canvas. The two courses go hand in hand for a reason: a flat painting is what makes a clean mount possible in the first place, and a panel is what keeps it that way for good. Together, they turn a piece you were proud to paint into one you're proud to hang, sell, or send out into the world, all without the inflated cost of traditional framing, so you can actually make a good profit on the sale.

Meet The Artist
Kim Knoll

Hi! I’m Kim Knoll, a professional abstract painter living in the heart of Chicago, with my studio in Humboldt Park. I create paintings on paper for collectors, art consultants, interior designers, and premium brands, including The Ritz-Carlton Hotels & Yacht Collection, Four Seasons Hotels, and Rosewood Resorts.

Nearly everything I know I learned the hard way, through years of painting and figuring it out as I went. Now I’m sharing what I’ve learned so you don’t have to start from scratch. I enjoy helping others and hope you’ll find my insights and teachings useful for your own art practice.
