Description

Tides Of Change, 2025
Acrylic and pastel on paper
71 x 48 in. unframed

Tides of Change evokes the rhythm of water—waves drifting back and forth, carrying both calm and momentum. Earlier this year, during the height of winter, I stood along the icy shore of Lake Michigan admiring the beauty of the frozen water and foggy sky. It was during a time when I could feel change stirring within myself, and when I painted this piece. It carries a sense of growth and evolution in my work, something I’ve been contemplating and exploring throughout the year, and this painting became the catalyst that set it into motion.

This painting is shipped unframed, but framing can be arranged upon request.

In Love

It’s hard to describe why one falls in love with an artist’s work, but that’s what happened when I first saw Kim’s work years ago. Her style, approach and execution are one of a kind and each culminate into an elegant piece that fill any space with beauty.

Meet The Artist
Kim Knoll

Hi, I'm Kim Knoll—a painter, traveler, and equal parts nature lover and city girl living in the heart of Chicago. Each year, I spend time in different parts of the world exploring on foot, from a big city like Madrid to the narrow canyons of Utah. These experiences inspire new perspectives and guide my work.

From my studio in Humboldt Park, I paint on paper using mixed media to find peace within my environment and myself. I think of things that bring me calm or joy, like the movement of water, different layers of land, and the expanse of open sky.

My original paintings are scanned and made into high-resolution art prints that are professionally printed, framed and carefully packed for shipping.

I hope my work creates a connection that invites you to pause, slow down, and become present long enough to restore your own peace and the simple joy of being.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know this is a genuine original painting by Kim Knoll?

Every original painting comes with a hand-signed certificate of authenticity confirming it's a one-of-a-kind piece made entirely by hand in my studio, not a reproduction. Each one is the only version of itself that will ever exist. The certificate includes an embossed stamp on it that is only used for my original paintings. Plus, I'm alive, well, and a real person who can vouch for it :)

What's the painting made on, and how durable is it?

My originals are created using mixed media on paper. Depending on the piece, it may be framed behind glass, left unframed, or mounted to a cradled wood panel, which you'll see noted on each painting's page. All are made with archival, professional-grade materials to last a lifetime. Good or bad, I have high standards for making quality work and don't ever skimp or cut corners.

How is something this valuable shipped safely?

Each original is carefully packed by hand to protect it in transit, with extra care taken for framed and panel-mounted pieces. I use UPS or an art shipper, depending on your preference, and the piece is insured for the full amount during shipping.

I love this piece, but is a print of it also available?

Many of my originals are also offered as art prints, so if the original is outside your budget or already sold, enter the painting's title in the search bar or browse my print shop to see if it's available there. Some paintings are not available as prints because they were too large to scan or would not replicate well as prints.
