How to Flatten A Rolled Print

How to Flatten A Rolled Print

My unframed prints come rolled in a tube because they are less likely to get damaged than if they were shipped flat. When you do the big unveiling, you may be scratching your head about how to get the paper to lie flat without denting or creasing it. And that's why I made this short video, to keep it really simple and easy for you.

All you'll need is 2-3 books, a flat, clean surface, and the tube your prints came in. Follow these steps and your art will be ready in no time to get all dressed up for its new home.

Once you get your artwork flat and framed, you may be wondering how high to hang your art. A lot of people guess on where to hang art and it's usually pretty accurate. Do what feels right for your space, but if you want a good rule of thumb to follow, it’s this: hang your art at 57” on center, meaning the center of the art is at the 57” mark from the floor. Here's a fun little fact: 57” represents the average human eye-level and is the standard in many galleries and museums.
