"Making Memories" Framed Print
Description
Professionally framed fine art print reproduced from an original ink painting on paper by Kim Knoll. Printed on acid-free, natural white fine art paper, mounted to foam board, and custom-framed in a high-quality, slim metal frame with standard acrylic glass. It arrives ready to install in the orientation shown here. This artwork looks best without a mat in the frame (as shown).
Colorado is one of my favorite places to hike and camp. I love all the small mountain towns and the views off Million Dollar Highway. I made this painting as a way of remembering this beautiful land. I always think about how deep the Earth is under our feet and how it's taller than the tallest mountain, so I tried conveying that in this painting too.

Meet The Artist
Kim Knoll
Hi, I'm Kim Knoll—a painter, traveler, and equal parts nature lover and city girl living in the heart of Chicago. Each year, I spend time in different parts of the world exploring on foot, from a big city like Madrid to the narrow canyons of Utah. These experiences inspire new perspectives and guide my work.
From my studio in Humboldt Park, I paint on paper using mixed media to find peace within my environment and myself. I think of things that bring me calm or joy, like the movement of water, different layers of land, and the expanse of open sky.
My original paintings are scanned and made into high-resolution art prints that are professionally printed, framed and carefully packed for shipping.
I hope my work creates a connection that invites you to pause, slow down, and become present long enough to restore your own peace and the simple joy of being.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why shouldn't I just use a frame from a store?
Great question! My framed prints are professionally made and dry-mounted to acid-free foam board. "Dry mounting" is a professional framing technique used to permanently adhere the print to a rigid backing board using heat and a heat-activated adhesive. It's done to eliminate wrinkles and prevent the paper from waving or buckling over time, making these a perfect choice for bathrooms or any space with humidity or moisture.
Another big difference is that the matboard has been sourced to match the paper color perfectly, which is a crucial detail in making the framing look expensive or cheap. There are so many different "whites" when it comes to matting that finding a store-bought, readymade frame with a white mat that matches the paper is surprisingly hard.
Why did you choose this frame?
There are so many reasons why I chose this frame that I wrote an entire blog post about it! You can read why here.
What does the mat, paper and frame look like up close?
Another great question! I thought you might be wondering, so I took some photos up close and wrote this blog post that covers each part of the framed print.
How are your framed prints packed for shipping?
I completely understand the fears that come with shipping something fragile, and I want to assure you that my framed prints are packed well, by professionals. In fact, I show exactly how they are packed and explain it in detail in this blog post, so you know what to expect.
